A Mustard Seed of Faith (To Ian 2009)

1 min read

"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” From St. Matthew 17:20

When heavy days begin to bend the spine,

And shadows turn the sharpest path to gray,

We struggle looking for a clear design,

While doubts and quiet fears get in the way.

The weight of daily grief can start to grow,

And wear down every promise in the heart,

Until the light ahead is faint and low,

And staying strong becomes the hardest part.

Yet hope doesn't demand a giant flame,

Nor courage that can alter land and sea

Just hold the small piece given in His name,

As tiny as a specks upon a tree.

For even when the mind is full of dread,

And all your strength feels shaken to the core,

A mustard seed of trust will lift your head,

And carry you to where you need once more.
