Hail Mary, full of grace...

The gold light of a Roman evening settles over the Vatican Gardens,

hushing the day into a soft, holy quiet.

The Holy Father bows his head, fingers resting on the wooden beads,

the bells of the city ringing for peace.

The Lord is with thee...

He speaks of torn spirits and aching hearts,

of the weary and the outworn.

"The Lord is never far away," he tells us,

"He comes in search of us even when we lose our way."

He calls us to be instruments of love,

reminding us that Jesus is our peace.

Blessed art thou among women…

A million voices rise in a single plea,

a chain of prayer pulling down barriers

in the village, the city, and the busy square.

Each bead turned is a step toward harmony,

a seed sown in the silence where the guns go quiet in the mind.

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus...

The world mends itself in the quiet stream,

a chain of love breaking the power of the end.

We are held in this anchor, turning the darkness

back toward the light,

letting the shadows cease.

Holy Mary, Mother of God...

In the halls of power,

a hushed command echoes

for the healing of a wounded land.

He speaks of the heavy burden,

the promises that must be kept.

"Be an instrument,"

the counsel flows,

for in the weight of state and crown,

peace is the only way to conquer fate.

The prayer rises to lift the world, to catch it should it fall.

Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
