The TCT Redemption, November 1995
(Dedicated to Barbara Jo Montgomery: Thank you!)

My M.Ed. was done at West Georgia College, a goal I sought,
A chance to teach for which I fought.
My Master's path, a hopeful, youthful tread,
While stacks of textile fabric lay instead.
The first TCT library media score brought a sting,
By one poor point, my future could not spring.
Just twenty-two, no classroom time I'd known,
A student seeking seeds to sown.
Then Barbara Montgomery took my hand,
To guide my study, to show me the lay of the land.
A year we worked, she waiting for her post,
She gave her time and knowledge, the most.
At last, the second TCT library media I took once more,
A month later, a passing score!
Three years went by, and the timeline held its place,
I met with Tommy Ison, showing grace.
At Taylor Street Middle School, a job was offered quick,
I saw my friend, that helpful friend, needed pick.
“I owe her everything,” my words came free,
“She is the one who helped make the chance for me.”
I went back, happy to my Pike Primary,
Barbara took her library, finally.
In life, we learn that markers are good to pay.
To those who light your path along the way.
